Runway To Hope Fashion Soirée

Dalen was recently invited to the Runway to Hope Fashion Soirée. It is a charity event that raises money to support cancer research and to help families with household expenses, gas, and medical bills. The event was Saturday night, over 90 children who are dealing with cancer or Have kick caner's butt walk down the runway. This event was wonderful! All the children including my son Dalen had a chance to forget about the hospital, chemotherapy treatments, and cancer to just be a KID! All the children was escorted with celebrities. Dalen was given a special surprise! He walked down with Jameer Nelson from the Orlando Magics. If you know Dalen you would know that he was in haven!! Dalen loves basketball!! He was so excited and was making deals with Jameer. Dalen is such a character. At the end of the runway Dalen did a dance performance that stole the show! This kid of mine is not shy and loves to entertain. The ballroom was full of Orlando's finest, and Dalen did what he was born to do, ENTERTAIN! As we were leaving the event several guest praise him of his performance; even Bo Outlaw an retired Orlando Magic player. I was so happy for my son last night. He was Dalen the Entertainer!
Thank you so much Runway to Hope for a fantastic event and unforgettable night for our children! You are awesome! ...

Fourteenth chemotherapy...

Dalen fourteenth chemotherapy treatment went okay. I tried something different to see if I could get dalen to not feel so sad before treatment. I suggested that we did not apply the numbing cream over the port. For some reason when I pull the cream from the bag, Dalen gets in this depressing mode. Nothing is good enough and he just once to go home. However, not applying the cream worked. He cracked jokes all the way to the clinic. As Nurse Mimi went to insert the needle to his port, Dalen felt a pinch but was still laughing and joking around. I suggested that we don't use the cream any more but Dalen said maybe. As usual he went to sleep during treatment. He only had to do one chemo drug last Thursday. Of course he was excited, especially when he found out that it wasn't vincristine. However, He woke up with the instant stomach pain...for the next two weeks Dalen will be off of chemo but he will still have to visit the clinic for lab test on Thursday. Please continue to pray for him, the external view is not always the internal view.

Twelve and thirteenth chemotherapy treatment...

Dalen has been through two treatments since the last post. His blood counts are okay and still sleeps throughout the day on Fridays. I have started to make it a priority to get him out the house every Saturday and Sunday, even if we go to the park and feed the birds. He is not able to do a lot of walking because he gets tired very quick, however a change is always good. He had his three month eye doctors visit and his eyes are stable. This is exciting news because it seem like there were getting worst with every visit. Dalen is trying to figure out why he has been chosen to go through this journey. He may not see it but I do! Dalen is going to be the miracle child that God is going to completely heal. If you would see Dalen, no one would ever know what he is going through because he keeps a smile on his face (unless he lifts his shirt up to show off his power port.. He is always helping someone out and telling jokes to make you laugh. He is such an awesome kid! Please continue to pray for Dalen...
